The profession of nursing involves a lot of tasks and responsibilities. Nurses take care of the patients, monitor their condition and provide medications from time to time. General Nursing Program
General nursing is a program in which training for the care of individuals, families, and communities is given to the students. The duration of the course may vary from institute to institute. After doing the General Nursing course, the nurses can work as health workers in communities.
General Nursing and Midwifery
General nursing and midwifery (GNM) is the course in which the students are trained to work in private and government hospitals. Candidates who have passed the senior secondary examination are eligible for the GNM course. The institutes running the GNM courses are linked to teaching hospitals. The duration of the GNM course is three years.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in nursing is the graduation degree course in nursing which enables the students to become the professional nurses and work in public health departments and private hospitals. The duration of the course is generally 4 years.
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is a 2-year nursing program for candidates who have already done General nursing and midwifery course. The course is meant for the nurses who are already working and want to undergo higher education in nursing.
Master of Science in Nursing
M.Sc. nursing is the master degree course in nursing in which the nurses are trained to work as clinical and community health nursing specialists. The candidates should have passed B.Sc. nursing to make an entry into an M.Sc. nursing degree course.
Military Nursing
Military nursing is a special course in nursing which trains the students to work as professional nurses in the defense forces and take care of the patients in the military hospitals. They can be also appointed for other tasks in the military hospitals.
Hospital nursing
Hospital nursing is the professional course in nursing which trains the students to work in the private and government hospitals. The students are provided training for hospital management and administration.
Pediatric nursing
Pediatric nursing is a professional course in nursing which focus on the medical health and caretaking of infants and kids. The nurses after the completion, of course, can work in the pediatric departments of hospitals and special hospitals for children.
Psychiatric nursing

Orthopedic nursing
Orthopedic nursing is the training course of nursing in which the students are given theoretical and practical training for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. The nurses are trained in the treatment of muscle and bone health.
